Job Summary:
The Quality Manager has responsibility for all Quality Systems and Quality Requirements in the facilities in Newell, Nemaha, and Oskaloosa facilities.

Responsibilities:

FEED SAFETY AND QUALITY ASSURANCE

• Ensure Quality Systems meet requirements outlined in the Global Quality Manual and Feed Safety Certification Programs, including ISO-22000, HACCP, and others.
• Responsible for maintaining the ISO Management System and updating as needed.
• Maintain registrations and licenses.
• Ensure compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Ensure plant SOPs are in place and training and competency testing is conducted on SOPs.
• Oversee & manage training relating to Work Instructions, forms, and product safety.
• Understands all processes related to feed safety requirements and demonstrates a commitment to feed safety by ensuring compliance to regulatory requirements.
• Develop internal audit program to monitor plant quality systems.
• Coordinate third party and internal quality system audits to document compliance to Regulations.

FEED FORMULATION AND INGREDIENT MONITORING
• Ownership of Concept 5 and Feed Formulation processes.
• Responsible for tag maintenance and creation.
• Accountable for new ingredient integration.
• Manage and maintain product specification sheets and product specific SDS documentation.

QUALITY LAB OVERSIGHT
• Manage QC Lab and personnel.
• Ensure lab testing is maintained
• Ability to maintain, operate and trouble shoot lab equipment, pH probes, moisture analyzers and centrifuges.
• Manage the Quality Budget within the guidelines and direction of Plant Management.
• Conduct Plant Capability studies, including validation and verification studies.
• Interact with outside firms and internal teams to coordinate plant trials, product improvements, and Quality System testing.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
• Lead Quality Investigations and assist in trouble shooting quality and product concerns as well as follow-up with the CAPA process.
• Manage customer complaints (investigations, pulling samples, retesting, etc.).
• Plant contact for supplier issues, drive supplier improvement.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma processes to achieve cost savings targets for the plant.
• Develop and maintain Key Quality Performance Indicators.
• Enhance SPC system for monitoring product and process performance.
• Manage capital projects as identified and/or assigned.

Qualifications:
• BS degree in related field (Animal Nutrition, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering with an Animal Nutrition background is desirable)
• 3 to 5 years of experience in the manufacturing plant, Animal Nutrition, ISO-22000, HACCP, & animal food safety system experience is a plus.
• Experience in Laboratory testing and procedures.
• 2-3 years of Six Sigma Black Belt experience is a plus.
• Knowledge auditing of manufacturing operations.
• Demonstrated success of being a strong quality advocate.
• Experience effectively partnering with outside vendors.
• High initiative with demonstrated results achievement and orientation.
• Excellent influence, persuasion, verbal and written communication skills required.
• This role requires a self-starter who is detail oriented and technically minded.
• Excellent record keeping skills.
• May involve infrequent lifting of up to 55 lbs.
